winter break is almost here and i want to mark down (officially) what my ambitions are over the two weeks. i think its crazy we dont get the week before christmas off but hey…. thats life *_*

ps. not even sure if i’ll get to do these things since im working like almost everyday from noon to close but i’ll try and make the most of it!

during winter break, i wanna play games again!!!!!! i wanna play tetris and start to play chess again. it looks super cool and im trying to train my mind to be more active. every time i get off work, i get on instagram and watch reels… my brain is rotting. i dont wanna live this life anymore….

im slowly trying to get off my main social media platform (twitter) and switch to something better like dreamwidth. i talk to the void and my one follower (hi quotidians) and do whateverrrr i want. maybe i’ll pick up html learning again but hey, nothing is guaranteed. i’ll spend time with my family and try and read more

yeah thats all i have. nothing too ambitious for a two week break but also nothing boring. happy holidays!

hi grandioseguy
my school does winter break a week early(!!) so i've been a free man since friday (huzzah!!)
best of luck with your winter break goals. really relate to what you're saying about getting off instagram and twitter-- i've been trying to wean myself off twitter and tiktok myself.
i'm planning to read more and teach myself chess too. anything you're reading right now/plan on reading?

greetings from quotidiansville,
thank you for writing back! positively delighted to hear a response so soon. the curious incident of the dog in the night-time sounds like a fascinating read. the name mark haddon certainly sounds familiar enough-- i'd have to give this a read myself someday.
i went to a local bookstore a few days ago and picked up a bilingual edition of rimbaud's collected poems, wilde's complete short stories (does it get any gayer than this?) didion's slouching towards bethlehem, and the plague by camus. i've never cared for poetry much until... recently? only around the past two years at least. then suddenly i realized i actually quite like it. hm.

congratulations on your first chess win! i think i'll try playing a game maybe later today. as for movies, i've watched the first half of home alone in school two times already-- in both french and english..! maybe i'll watch the second half today, seeing as i've never actually seen it. (should i watch it in french or english? that is the question... franglais?)

cordially yours,
q-money (?!!??)

dear g.g,

apologies for my delayed response.. the stranger! i read that one for the first time earlier this year. the last part of the book particularly stands out to me-- you'll have to tell me what you think of it when you're finished. lots of older books are unfortunately misogynistic, so much so to the point where i'm even surprised when there's none.

my first chess game ended in a draw, mainly because i got impatient and ended up trying to rush through it, and also cos i barely knew how to move the different pieces. i'm going to find a video tutorial and figure that out first and then try again. bit devastated at the idea of having to take my time and think for once.

kindest regards,
quotidians
